Civic Space Initiative
Civic Space Initiative
At Students for Global Democracy Uganda, we believe that a vibrant and protected civic space is essential for democracy to thrive. Our Civic Space Initiative works to protect, expand, and strengthen the environment in which civil society and citizens can freely organize, participate, and communicate to influence the political and social structures around them.
In response to the shrinking civic space in many parts of Uganda and the region, we work to defend civil liberties, promote enabling legislation for civil society, and build resilience among civil society actors, particularly students and youth-led organizations.
